Arp 226 (NGC 7252)

	Arp 226 is the final member of the class Amorphous Spiral Arms.  The Atlas note is "loops, filaments at various angles".  This galaxy is also known as the Atoms for Peace galaxy.  If you Google with that name, you'll find a lot of images.  The positive image is deliberately processed very mildly to show the internal structure around the core.  For the faint filaments, see the negative and false color images. This is one of the more difficult objects, because the core is so bright and the filaments so faint.  It is one of only two images on the site where the galaxy core was used for guiding.  It was much brighter than anything else in the field, and very compact.
