Arp 165 (NGC 2418)
Arp 165 is a member of Arp's class Diffuse Filaments, but see
discussion for Arp 162. The
Atlas notes are "fainter of two streamers curved in SE direction. May be
faint knots on ends of streamers." The filament coming off the northwest
part of the core area and sweeping north and east is the brightest, and it is
none too bright. The one referred to in the note is extremely faint.
There are several tiny galaxies just north of the primary but otherwise the
field is fairly bare of galaxies.
