arp 53 is in class spirals with small hsb companions on arms. the
companion is easily seen on the arm heading west from the south end of the
primary. it is small but shows quite a bit of detail on close examination.
the detail image below shows an outer arm running parallel to the main arm and quite a
few small galaxies in the field. notice the group of four in the northwest
corner.
