Arp 100 (IC 18 & 19)

Arp 100 is in the class Spirals with Elliptical Galaxy Companions on Arms.  The galaxies are fairly widely separated.  There is a broad plume of material heading south from IC 18 in the general direction of the elliptical (IC 19) but it does not point at it and does not seem to complete a connection.  On an earlier version of this page, with an image of only 25 minutes exposure, I included a false color version to make the south plume visible.  With 59 minutes, it can be seen easily in the negative image.
