Arp 80 (NGC 2633)
10-inch Newtonian, StarlightXpress MX716, 52 minutes
Arp 80 is in the class Spirals with Large HSB Companions on Arms. The Atlas notes say "end of one arm heavy; absorption break in same arm near nucleus". Dr. Arp was obviously referring to the arm that starts on the south end and swings around the east side, ending at the north, since it exhibits both those features. I can only assume that the heavy feature was also considered the companion, since there is no other possible companion in the Atlas field.
The large face-on galaxy toward the south end of the field is NGC 2634 while the edge-on is NGC 2634A.
