Arp 298 is the first member of the Double Galaxies class. Arp's Atlas note
says "absorption, knots. Note apparent re-entrant spiral arm on southern
galaxy". The large primary in the center of the field is NGC 7469.
The companion is IC 5283. The tail extending NW from IC 5283 is actually
more obvious in this image than in the Atlas image, probably due to the
different color sensitivity of the film and the CCD.
