arp 297 (ngc 5752 thru 5755)

  arp 297 is the last member of the class double galaxies with long filaments.  the atlas note is "position of larger spiral.  companion on arm has long tail extending westward".  the beautiful barred spiral, several minutes ese of the center of the field, is ngc 5754.  just w, the smaller galaxy on the arm is ngc 5752.  the galaxy about 3' nne with the hooked arm is ngc 5755 and the small galaxy another 2' n is ngc 5753. 

this is a replacement image and the old one, taken with a mx916 camera, had a significantly larger field and showed quite a number of small galaxies around the edges.  it is still available on the extras page.  small galaxies around the edges.  it is still available on the extras page.
