Arp 285 (NGC 2854 & 56)

  Arp 285 is in the Double Galaxies with Infall and Attraction class.  The Atlas note is "narrow tail leads away from northern nucleus".  Arp 285 is the pair of galaxies in the southwest quadrant of the image.  The SW member is NGC 2854 and the NE member, with the jet or tail, is NGC 2856.  The perfect spiral in the NE corner is Arp 1.  This image was acquired at the 2004 Texas Star Party.
