arp 253

  arp 253 is in the class appearance of fission.  the atlas note says "some resolution of stars or h ii regions".  while these galaxies, especially the w one, show an extreme amount of lumpiness, i think the lumps are more likely star-forming regions than stars or h ii regions.  the 2x detail image shows this best.  the eastern galaxy is mcg -1-25-32 and the western is mcg -1-25-31.
