Arp 18 (NGC 4088)
10-inch Newtonian, StarlightXpress MX716, 42 minutes
Arp 18 is the last of Arp's class Spirals with Detached Segments -- they still look like knots to me. The beauty of galaxies like this one is what keeps me going at this hobby! The Atlas note is "end of one spiral arm partially disconnected". The image was acquired on a very cold (for Texas), clear, January night in 2005. My tube had a quarter inch of frost on it when I finished the night's imaging.
