Arp 15 (NGC 7393)
This is another of the Detached Segments galaxies.
Dr. Arp's image and my negative image look similar, but my positive image seems
to have more of a ring structure than a knotty appearance. The type of
processing can have a major effect on your impression of a galaxy. The
Atlas note seems to reflect this, as it says "feature appears to be a ruptured
or obscured ring. Member of group".
This image was acquired on one of those miserably hot Texas summer nights. It was still in the upper 90's at dusk, hazy and humid.
